Well it started when I had my Pug 306 a few months back he was saying his car was faster and more powerful but wouldn't say what car he had but said it was 220BHP (i didnt really care and just got on with the match and went home), then I go to training for the first time in 4 months last night and as I pull up in the Supra everyone came over to look at it and he starts up again. Him: what BHP is it Me: I tell him Him: Nope! not as fast as my new Toyota Proton tuned up to the max its just over 330BHP. I just smiled and walked off, now correct me if I'm wrong but isn't a Proton a Proton and nothing to do with Toyota? and its either 330BHP or something bigger surely he would no what BHP it is and finally (hope I spelt it correctly this time ), Can a Proton even hold that in the engine bay? 3.0l he was saying. I would say he's probably talking crap. The next time he starts up 'in front of the lads' get a full breakdown of the work done, and ask if he has any dyno sheets he can share to back up this claim. Maybe we were all like that when we were 19. I can't remember that far back. Even if he could get 330bhp from his Proton, I don't think the engine would last that long. AFAIK they're front wheel drive, so he'd have a hard job getting the power down onto the ground. I wouldn't point out these things to him though, I doubt he'll absorb it because it's not what he wants to hear. Just smile and nod when he holds forth again about his car. Edit: I had a Proton Persona as a long-term hire car once. It looked *very* much like a Ford Orion, had alloys and was a nice purple colour. The electric window did get stuck in the "down" position though one day in mid-winter. You get people like that. remember when I got a brand new Playstation 2 (back in the day) and my neighbour said he had one too but we could never play it or see it as it was on top of his cabinet only coming out when he needs to play it but we could never play hate people like that, there's no need. Funny how I havent seem him drive once to football his brother brings him in his Pug 106 1.1. He just says he doesn't want to waste petrol I said 'you didnt mind when you was blowing £10 doing 156 on the M1 would be nice to see it drag though (I mean drag as in the front end scraping as he floors it) got to say though 'waving his willy around'? Benyon Posted March 10, 2009 Share Posted March 10, 2009 Firstly that guy is full of crap in what he is saying however you can do silly engine transplants to protons, They accept a fair few different engines I know a mechanic that has put some fast engines into these. I raced one in my Pulsar GTiR once and it stuck with me, I Seen the guy later and he had an evo 9 engine I think it was. I wouldn't under estimate these protons they can be made really quick. Ask him what year it is, what mods he has, and if he'd like to go for a blast, or if he can bring it down next practice so you can admire it. Then just watch the excuses come out... Simply reply with, "You haven't really got one, have you?" If he insists he has, then simply and calmly tell him that there is no such car. Rest easy in the fact you know a lot more about cars than him, and with everyone around and listening, he will surely show everyone how childish and petty he is. Don't rip ito him too hard though, you still have to see him on a regular basis and you wouldn't want to make it uncomfortable for everyone there.
