bodilx6
on the left? http://idisk.mac.com/stefanbovien-Public/TRAC_ECU.JPG The one saying throttle control? I'm after disabling the Trac Control system of my j-spec more permanently than hitting the TRAC button every time I start the car. But I don't want to mess with ANYTHING else. So, am I right about the ecu and will it have any side effects at all?

paul mac
it will disable the trac completely but if you aren't running a built auto it will give your gearbox a harder time and could shorten its life as the trac butterfly closes on gearchanges, you may also find the changes too harsh, but on the plus side its a 2 minute job to plug it back in if you dont like it
bodilx6
I'm running 6spd, so no worries with shifts changing. So I will have no side effects? It just seems like a small thing that big box is is doing if its just handling the tracktion control. But hey, thats 90'ies technology
tDR
Mine is long gone (I'm BL auto) and apparently that's why my car can't be dyno'd - not sure of the exact explanation but that was RyanG's guess when we had it on the rollers pre Suprapod, it's to do with mine kicking down when you nail the throttle and wanting to leap out of the rollers despite being locked in gear. Again this shouldn't affect you being manual. Cheers, Brian.
