auto box problem

dropped the car off this morning for a service and to have the gear box oil changed and the filter's in the box clean/changed and when the mechanic has taken the sump of there was a screw, a spring and a little bearing dropped out he's found where the spring and screw go but cant see where the bearing goes he said its in a plastic casing has anyone any ideas

Oh that is not good, that sounds like the contents of one of many valves in the box. You will need an auto box specialist to look at the box. Ask Chris Wilson he knows a good one. To be honest you may be better off getting a second hand box, as your box will probably have to be striped which will be many hours work so big £'$
