M4RK RZ
Hey all, Not sure if this effects anyone on here but going to post it anyhow I was searching for my HKS EVC6 manual on the HKS site and came across this , so eyes peeled http://www.hksusa.com/info/?id=3646
Terminator
Good find, thanks for giving us all the heads up. Looking atthe comparison pictures it looks as if it will be very hard for the average punter to spot the difference. Just goes to show absolutely anything can and will be faked. n boost
They will be really hard to spot if you dont have a genuine one to look at as well. Good fake's though and wonder what so great about the hks original mushroom filters to justify the price difference, as in tests they have been not very good at filtering dirt out. chris2o2
the fakes look good tbh A bit worrying how good the fakes look to the real thing...
Tricky-Ricky
I am using a fake Tial BOV and it works just fine, i'm sure a lot of the fake/reproduction stuff is just as good a the original product in most cases.
M4RK RZ
In some cases I agree. It realy does depend on the item though, we have to remeber that ammount of R&D time involved in bringing a product to market by the original company costs money, reflected in the RRP of course. Copying a product is easy. Hidden nastys: Material specification, no matter if it is metal plastic or composite the original material specification is choosen for a good reason, many options will have been concidered in the design / testing stages. Fakes (if sold at the same price or cheaper) may have, although it appears the same, a differing spec to reduce costs and provide a good looking but non-sound product. i.e This may mean the plastic used on your air filter become brittle at high/low temps, and may not withstand normal vibration and so break and enter the system ! or possible the rubber spec/ seals used on other items may also not wistand petrochemical products and so perish leading to lost performance / leaks. Tolerance / fitting are also main points. But I will also say that some fakes are indeed sopt on. Being in the engineering trade its a daily thing for me so dont think im preaching lol
