Red Warning Light coming on :(

Right i've read a few of the threads on here and i said i'd throw this up to see if anyone would know what this could be off the top of their heads.

Chris put in the sub and amp for me a few days back and i had the car the weekend and the boost controller isnt working . Also the red triangle light is coming on with the yellow engine light. It seems to come on when i'm in 5th or 6th gear and gradually hit 100km. When you turn off the car and turn it back on and drive it again this light wont come on really until you drive it around 100km again.

Chris is looking at this tomorrow, does anyone know what could be causing this and with boost controller not working could they be connected??

Have you got the engine diag codes?

Warning light is usually brake fluid but engine and warning light could be several things, including detonation.

Are you boosting to anything over stock? Has the car been remapped? The cold weather could be causing a bit of det I guess.

I had this exact problem a couple of weeks ago. The only difference was that I did not disconnect the battery when I removed some unused speaker wiring.

I removed the dash board again but firstly I deactivated the alarm system and then disconnected the battery. I checked the odometer plug after disconnecting it first. the pink wire pin inside the plug appeared a bit loose so I jiggled it a bit and it firmed up (it may have relocked itself back into its plug)

After checking the other plugs, I put it all back together. Then, reconnected the battery and went for a drive. all OK. I then reactivated the alarm and it has been fine ever since.

I cannot say for sure what actually fixed the warning light but it must have been one of the above actions. Give it a go and good luck.

Dude, the warning light doesn't ever come on for detonation. Where are you getting your info from?!

Nope, it's not a warning item. One of the reasons for this is that the closed loop system advances the timing until it gets knock and then backs it off. This is how the ECU adapts to different quality fuels etc. The warning light going off for that all the time would be rather misleading :)

The other reason is that it's not in the manuals' list of "things that cause an error code/light to light up".
