exhaust heat

ok when i start my car up, even idling for around 30sec, it looks like its getting incredibly hot very very fast. the temp guage doesn't increase, even in normal driving (just above halfway)

but the exhaust still continues to smoke/fumes for 5 minutes after just on startup then shut off after 30 secs. is this normal on a single turbo setup?

I think you need to explain a little more on where it is getting hot?

The fumes you talk of is that black smoke, blue smoke or white smoke?

After 5mins it calms down, what do you mean

white smoke. from the end of the exhaust/backbox. when i start it up and leave for 30sec, then switch off engine. now the exhaust is still steaming and is very hot, bit of white smoke still emerging. when the engine has just started up there is a lot of white smoke exiting. when i have turned off the engine, 5 mins later the exhaust has cooled down.
