Car models ruined by chavs

A lot of people usually hate Novas, Saxos, Corsas etc. because the names have been ruined by chavs and their 'wikkid' bodykits and gatherings in car parks revving engines and the usual accounts of them driving like total pricks etc.

What if too many chavs got hold of Supras now that they are dropping in price?

Would you change car if the Supra started to get a bad image?

Would members on here actually pay particular attention when selling their car to a buyer that was not going to respect it?

If a buyer turned up top to bottom in burberry classics, would you sell it to them if they gave the asking price?

Just a few questions for a Friday afternoon ;)

No insurance company will insure them or demand mad money for simple NA, running costs is another thing which stop them.

I do drive Supra because I like cars look and performance, not because it gives me certain "image".

I'm unfortunatelly this kind of guy who struggle to sell his cars, so yes, I would probably pay attention, who is potential buyer :p

I would say

1. Lets not sell to chav's

2. Its upto the supra people for how much we sell our cars for lets not let them get to cheap Keep your price's up as much as we can !!

3. people love the supra so will pay the money for them, or if they dont have to money they can always get a poor mans supra "The celica"

Thats what i think :D

A problem is that whilst people like Matt H and I appreciate the Supras but prefer to kit them, most 'laymen' would/do view us as in the same fold as 'boy racers' who stick blingly bits to their 1.0 puntos... Nothing can be further from the truth. There is a big difference from those wanting to 'live it large' and those who love their cars.

Interestingly enough (or not) I took my car out last weekend and actually stood and chatted to an OAP who approached me to tell me how nice he thought the car was. I had expected him to have a moan about how loud it was. I suppose I am fortunate though since I rarely see Supras up near me so they are very much a novelty.

I dont have problems with people kitting there supras out each to the own its still at supra at end of day, I do like the stock look :D

It will be shame to see the supra driven by people who wear baseball caps and still drink cans in the park while doing donuts on the field :(. they will not look after them and run them into the ground...

BMW E36 has been ruined by chavs, my favourite car was the old 3.0 M3 but every little chav has one and if its not an M3 its a 318i that's kitted to look like an M3.

Supra's are going to go the same way, chavs will buy them then find out they cant afford to fix them or maintain them so the market will be flooded with crapped out supra's with zero tread and shagged gearbox's/diffs, forcing the price down even for good'uns.

No. I don't care what image my car portrays. I have watches, shoes and chenile socks to do that job.

I'd really prefer to sell to someone that will appreciate the condition and care I've put into it, but in reality if I had to sell it, the asking price is more important. Obviously I'd offer it to you guys first...failing that its an open market.

i get positive remarks about my car from many different walks of life. i love the attention...apart from police and vandals. i like the fact my car sounds better at idle than most chav cars at full throttle. ive been to a few meets in my area...not intentionally but unfortunatly mc donalds is next to halfords near me... so its pretty funny to see chavs gawp at a real car. always one guy whose really gone fully out on a saxo or something and has everyone standing around it until i pull up....guys face says it all lol. upstaging chavs is great! :)

I agree, i too prefer the kitted look to standard, so you can call me a chav if you like, (a bloody old one though) and i really don't give a monkeys.

I enjoy the work and effort i have put into it, and would like to think its done in a tasteful way, but in the end we all have a different opinion of that:)

I don't really care. As long as the club continues with generally the same standard of membership then I will continue to own a Supra (or two).

The 'Chav image' has put me off buying an Evo or Impreza though, and I really would like a play in one of those.

Question if not a supra then what?

300zx? Looks to old.

GTO? tosters

RX7? rebuild

Ive more or less sold mine now and i cant find anthing i like or want other than another supra.

So im happy enough i wonder in 13 years time will we all be on the GT-R owners club bitching about chavs buying them?

We will always be a different group or people to the chavs. Their Supras will always be poorly maintained, ruined with riduculous bodykits, wheels, and Halfords scrap and cheap paint jobs. (at this point I would like to point out, most Supras on this site which have bodykits and resprays are of high quality, and not thrown together like the chav examples I am refering to!)

So when they sell their cars cheap, you can still keep your price up, because what you're selling is of a higher quality... If you want a quality car, you pay for a quality car, if you want a cheap car, you pay for a cheap car... And then the repair bills! :D

I don't like Saxo's, Novas or 106's, I love 205's. I have a soft spot for later Rover 200's, but hate the older ones. I like P1 Impreza's, don't like the later ones or Evo's. I like RX7's, don't like 3000 GT's or 300's. I like AM V8's, but don't like the Vanquish. I love Supra's, but regularly drive a beat up Rover 400. I don't get upset if someone dislikes my Supra, but I'm pleased if someone says they do.

NSX or Escort Cosworth imho. ive never driven an NSX but ive driven my dads 350bhp cossie and its soooo nice to drive. drives just like a normal car but handles and goes like nothing else ive ever driven. cars got its own individuality about it and is just fun to drive anywhere....apart from some exagerated speed bumps...
