Tricky-Ricky Posted January 31, 2009 Share Posted January 31, 2009 The Lexus bolt is primarily for a pressure sensor, temp reading there may only really reflect the temp in that area, best place for temp sensor is in the sump, i welded a bung to mine to take a thermocouple. Ian C Posted January 31, 2009 Share Posted January 31, 2009 You could fit a flange to the oil filter takeoff that lets you fit temp and pressure sensors, I've got one and my oil temp sensor lives in there. supra matt Posted January 31, 2009 Share Posted January 31, 2009 there is not enough meat on that to tap a sensor into mate. looks like sump is the only way , the bolt method is the easiest as the other needs the sump to be removed and there a hassle to reseal properly What temp is the stat? Ah ok that would be an issue But if you're using those aeroquip fittings, you could bag a sensor takeoff component I would have thought? Tricky-Ricky Posted January 31, 2009 Share Posted January 31, 2009 The trouble with using temp sensors in sandwich plates or the cooler feed lines, is that you will only get a local temp, IE the oil passes through the block on its way to the take off plate, so you get an exaggerated reading of that area, which has been preheated by the cylinders/combustion etc, the sump will give a genuine average. but if you want to measure the effectiveness of your oil cooler then you really need a sensor in the feed and return lines;) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
