It's that time again... time to start thinking about getting our team entry together for this - who's up for it?

Would like to see a strong team representing the Supras this year so please add your name to the list below if you'd like to compete and your PROVEN drag times so far. There's also the handling element to consider so track ready stripped type Supra's will also be considered on merit:

1. [CIRCUIT] [10's] Dude (Trial Demo Car, 6spd. Adequate!!!!)

2. [No idea] Gruggs (BL71DBB / BL box)

3.

4.

5.

6.

7.

8.

9.

10.

Put yourself on the above list based on your time from fastest at the top to slowest at the bottom or if you want to be considered as a circuit specialist then put your name at the bottom with [CIRCUIT] in front of it. Also could you include some basic spec info and power level in your entry line. Example entry lines showing formatting:

1. [9.87] The Roadrunner (T71, BL trans, PI 4K Stall)

2. [CIRCUIT] The Stig (Stripped, caged, full underbody aero, TRD diff, Ohlins Coilovers)

3.

You get the idea. See www.totb.co.uk for full info.

I've stickied this thread to keep it at the top and we'll devise a final team entry in a few months before the final closing date for entries at the start of July, based on the above list.

UPDATE 08/03/09 - Closing date for all entries is 3rd July 2009. Entry form attached to this post.

UPDATE 02/06/09 - Added current team list.

UPDATE 06/06/09 - Updated team list.

UPDATE 07/07/09 - Updated team list - FINAL.

Cheers,

Brian.

When is the closing date Brian? Be worth mentioning that from the start :)

Errrm:

I've stickied this thread to keep it at the top and we'll devise a final team entry in a few months before the final closing date for entries at the start of July, based on the above list.

ADVICE FOR OUR TEAM ENTRANTS:

You need to run decent fuel and decent tyres on the day at TOTB!!! Why? Because aside from the performance enhancing benefits race fuel helps protect against det and it's always bloody HOT on the day at TOTB which is the kinda weather when det is most likely to happen, and the surface is pretty crappy at Elvington so you need to run the best tyres you can on the surface. I'd like to see all our guys running drag radial type tyres or track specials like Toyo R888's (either has to be road legal) and some race fuel in your tanks. Places to get these items:

Race Fuel:

http://www.envyperformance.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=4511 (A number of members have had good results with this fuel, think this is one of the highest RON fuels available but is leaded - Envy supply a number of fuels from the VP Racing range so best find out from Gaz what's in stock)

http://www.aaoil.co.uk/racing-Sunoco-GT-PLUS (109RON, 4.5% oxygenated - this is the easiest stuff to run as it's unleaded and still decent octane / oxygenation)

http://www.aaoil.co.uk/racing-Sunoco-MaxNOS (Highest octane of the Sunoco range at 119RON but leaded and not oxygenated)

Competition Tyres:

http://www.laracingparts.com/

http://laracingparts.com/acatalog/Mickey_Thompson_E_T__Street_Radial_Tires.html (275/40/17 will fit on UK spec rear rims, 255/50/16 should fit on J spec rear rims)

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=g-Force+T%2FA+Drag+Radial (You can get these from here via Dusty @ MVP, this model is new and basically is easier to use with less burnout being required to get them up to temp)

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=g-Force+T%2FA+Drag+Radial+2 (As above for ordering, these are the originals previously called 'Pro Comp T/A' and require a bit of heating up to hook up well)

Hope this helps guys.... get ordering :)

My car is not fast enough, id only enter if i thought i could win.

sadly that is beyond the realms of possibility with that event. The cars there are 10sec minimum, with some in to the 9s. If Ryan focused on drag with his new car he may stand a chance but they have sort of crippled the RWD cars with the tyre rules. You need 4wd to win the event.

Can be a nice day out though. I wonder if Dude will be able to run? He added an element of the unknown.

There's always RWD class honours to aim for... yours should be handy on the track as well with the big brakes and your new suspension setup. Supras always tend to fare well in the top speed run too - it's not just the drag times that count scoring well in each discipline multiplies your score.

If anything it'll be a fun day out abusing your car - I know I always enjoy that! :D

That's right Steve you compete in all 3 disciplines and get a points score for each. Scoring well in each gets bonus points awarded. There are FWD, RWD, 4WD and Illegal (tubbed out specials) classes and then an overall winner from there. There are also drag and track shootouts for the top people in each class to determine overall honours.

Thanks Brian. So how many cars are entered into RWD class/total, give or take? Is it a big spectator event or not as big as the photos might make out.

I think Jake ran what is now my Supra in the top seed run (only?) one previous year??

About 40 cars in RWD class. To win at drag in this class takes around a mid 10 second run but anything can happen if you make the knockouts... people stall, go down the 1/4 sideways, blow their engines up etc.

Like I said though it's not just all about drag - you don't win overall in your class or overall in the competition just by doing well at drag and I know we have a number of cars that should be competitive on the sprint track and on the top speed runs where the Supra excels.

Jake ran yours in the 1/4 too IIRC but the times weren't great - think he said he was struggling with the clutch on the day?!? I remember his 1/4 terminal speeds were pretty high but 60fts were slow so there was potential if he could have nailed the launch. Decent tyres as per my last post will help no end with that!

Cheers,

Brian.

Wez do you want a spot? As I said I'll give those who showed up to represent the club last year priority since they put their money where their mouth is.... so many people say they'll run then pull out last minute for whatever reason leaving our club entry in a state.

Your car is pretty handy at the circuit stuff IIRC...

Cheers,

Brian.

Is Suprapod going to be a kind of elimination for potential entrants?

The Supra is going into the garage next month and undergoing some serious upgrades, when/how would it be proven as a car good enough to be entered?....

Suprapod is after TOTB so that wouldnt work.
