Wheel and Tyre help

Ive been searching all day and my brain has melted:blink:

Im more confussed now than i was when i started.

If i was to fit 18" x 10" alloys with an offset of 40 to the rear of the supra,

would it fit or would i need to do some arch work?

bearing in mind i do plan to have overfenders fitted at some point.

Now i know that the original offset is 50 and staying close to it is best, and that you can go +/- a bit.

So

Does an offset of 40 makes it stick out 10mm further?

Also what would be the best width tyres to fit?

265, 275, or 285?(now this is what confuses me the most as i dont understand how it all works)

Yes, but a 10" wheel is also going to stick out a further 1/4" (6.4mm) over a stock rear 9.5" wheel .

So overall 16.4 mm further out than a stock rear wheel.

Stock rear tyre on a TT is 255/45 17 , tyre dia= 661 mm

Best rear tyre for a 18" rear wheel is 255/40 18,... dia=661 mm

Edit, I'm not sure if a 255 is a little narrow for a 10" wheel, even if it is a good diameter

You could go wider if you wanted too.

i mentioned arch work as ive read it a few times while doing the search and that the wheel will pertude further so hence the question about arch work, will it need doing?

i use 10 rears with 265/40/18 on a +35 i think , and thers is no rubing unless i go over a bump hard and it just about toches the tyre nothing that bothers me though, im on stock n/a rear suspension

I didn't say it wouldn't fit, a 10" wheel with a 40mm offset is a good size for the rear.

With this in mind you'll want the wheels/tyres to stick out a fair bit.
