View Full Version : Feeding Cables to the Boot

Hey guys,

How do people with lots of subs, amps etc etc get all the cabling from the back of the headunit and into the boot where the subs and amps are? :conf:

I have just aquired a Kenwood in-dash DVD etc system, and holy mother of god if it isn't the biggest/longest stereo wiring loom I have ever seen!! Normally, I would run any cable under the door sills and through into the boot, but I've only ever had to do that with one or two cables before, and on my old car! There is ALOT more wire involved here that needs to go to the 5.1 control box which I can only guess will need to go in the boot (unless anyone has any better suggestions?)

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Attached is a pic to show roughly how much wiring we're talking about - I can't see all THAT going along the door sills

Cheers, J

I've fed the wires for all of my stereo installs down the center console and under the back seats.

Hmmm - I do quite often have passengers getting in and out of the car, so I'm not so sure the box would survive under the seat! Also, where do you hide all the excess wire with it under there?

Going straight down the middle sounds like a plan - never really looked into that before? Although there are that many wires that i'm not 100% sure they would all pass under the main 'console' area (from behind the dash) and into the area where the gearstick is? :conf:

Cheers, J

There is loads of room under the center console mate. I dont think you will have a problem. There are only a few screws to the center console too. The back seats just pop out.

It took me half an hour at most to feed all my stereo wires to the boot and put it back together.

Cool .... sounds good. I've had the dash out loads of times, so that should be fine.

I've never really looked behind the main console/cubby box area properly though! Would the wires just go under the carpet beween the console and the back seats and then into the boot?

Lovatt - Is it worth plugging the TV bits up (arials etc), is it actually worth having, or is the reception rubbish!

Cheers for all the help, much appreciated!

id go down the door sill and behind the plastic cover in the back, easy to do, its only a few minor cuts on the hands :)

its fits under the passenger seat fine, i take passengers to. all the wires were hidden under the carpet and cable tied up.

yes the reception is rubbish when you are going along but its not to bad when you are still in some areas, its worth plugging in
