View Full Version : Dynamat Spray?

When installing my new rear speakers I noticed they have a large empty space behind them going over the arches etc.
They sound good to me but acoustically is this empty space a bad thing and should I think about getting some dynamat spray down there or some sort of foam or something similar perhaps?
Thanks.

Any one got any thought's on this?
The more dynamat you have the more damping, this is a good thing!

Totally agree with Chris, but try to use the matting wherever possible. The spray stuff isn't that great. It takes about 3 cans to cover the same area, at the same density, as one normal sheet.
I'd be willing to bet is right messy too, never seen the stuff.

So if I put some behind the rear speakers to fill up that massive gap it should improve the sound a bit.
It looks like a very difficult space to get too not easy like the front doors that's why I was thinking about the spray initially.
yeh the spray is a total waste of time, i used a can on the sup, and it's crap. you are best to use dynamat/brown bread (same sort of stuff). it costs about 15-20 for a roll and does the job. i've just done the whole sup and used about 8 rolls!

Oh yes... :innocent:
Adrian, yes, it is worth doing. Like Keron, I've used about 8 rolls on my car too.:innocent:

Cheers, how much is the brown bread stuff and where can I buy it?
Did you manage to get any of this stuff behind the rear speakers, as it doesn't look like any easy space to get too.
Is it best to put it directly behind the rear speakers or back against the panelling?
Also with the fronts does it matter if you stick it on the back of the door cards and over the back of the speaker or it is better to stick in behind the plastic and against the metal?
Thanks.
i would go for dynamat as is better quality. i stuck mine on the inner panels in the car. once the door cards are removed, along with the speaker enclosures....you can get to the panels quite easily.
