steady_dave
Just out of pure interest i've heard a lot of people say that a double de-cat will help reach higher boost and so on and so on. However with a double de-cat, how do you get your car through MOT. Surely this will fail emmissions. If i've missed something stupidly obvious please be gentle on me as I was thinking about this today and genuinly I don't know as i'm not that mechanically minded (but am trying to learn) Information would help in my learning i'm sure. Thank you in advance!
miko_supra
No it will fail emissions. Either find a friendly mot centre or just put one cat back in before mot time. 2nd cat usually being the easiest to change over.

Luxluc
I only put the cats back on for MOT test ... for the rest, fully decatted
den1
What I,m wondering is ...Is there much difference in the cars performance after a BPU compared to stock?
Wez
What I,m wondering is ...Is there much difference in the cars performance after a BPU compared to stock? BPU is about 400hp if I remember correctly, double decat and boost upto 1.2bar, so yes you will notice the difference.
Andy Blyth
If you have an early import Supra, you can pass an MOT with no cats in. Check your V5 document, if there is no emmisions information printed in it, your MOT centre will likely perform a 2-gas test instead of a 4-gas test. The limits are much higher on the 2-gas test so you don't need cats in.
den1
Even with J-spec ceramic Turbos

V5 emmisions has nothing to do with MOT for imports - all done on age.
Wez
Even with J-spec ceramic Turbos 1.2bar is the recommended max on the jspec yes

Wez
Really Any increase in boost will decrease the life of the units but I suggest you do some searching and reading on what you can do within the safer limits. You may be suprised

You may be suprised i think its anything jap before march 1995 and you don't need emisions on the mot.
