Dnk
Anyone know where i might find any diagrams etc to help with stripping down and rebuilding a stock throttle body. Thanks in advance ps Is there an aftermarket throttle body you can use on the stock plenum ? cars running around 500 bhp
j_jza80
Mine has had an aftermarket 80mm (I think) throttle body welded straight onto the plenum (The TRAC section has been removed) Looks quite neat too. Let me know if you want any pics. The only problem being that your FMIC pipework is going to be too short though, mines had an extra section welded in. Do you know what type it is?
JamieP
Has the manifold been modded to fit that, hard to tell from the pic.
j_jza80
Heres a few (Sorry about the quality) I'm not sure on the brand as it came fitted to the car. I think it's a fairly universal aftermarket one though by the looks of it (Although I believe the TPS is attached to it)
JamieP
Yeah manifold has also been modified, you can fit a q45 to a stock manifold with a custum adaptor, i had one made up for the old car, was pretty easy.

Dnk
Yes please I guess you know why im asking I was thinking that this would be the way to go before i start playing with your throttle body ! I had a good look at the chromed one you gave me and its pretty much scrap and beyond saving, i got Steve Manley to send me what he'd got on his parts diagrams but afraid it doesnt show a breakdown of the assembly If i take it apart we might need some seals etc that we cannot get, also i might have to drill out the 2 crosshead screws that hold the butterfly in place as they dont want to move, i guess there loctited in. Dnk
Someone must have removed the butteryfly before? Anyone I think the best way is if i strip down the chromed throttle body and take a picture at every step. Might need to make some parts though and it could get a little costly hence me thinking a custom throttle body might be the way to go ? That's fine Dunk, like you said, it's scrap anyway. Steve-I was referring to the throttle butterfly
