I'm putting my battery in the boot due to a larger intake can someone tell me if 4 gauge power wire is sufficient for this as it's a larger core than the standard battery cable. If not could someone point me in the right direction offl what to use please.

Thanks in advance.

John

Check what amperage the cable will take.

I think i used 40mm battery cable (rated for 300amps)

When i did mine i cut the large battery terminal off and connected it in to a distribution block, then fed the cable out of the other end of that. in to the car and in to a large capacity fuse block then on to the battery.

I got everything i needed from here: http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/VWP-onlinestore/home/homepage.php

If you go the distribution block route i still have one of them left you can have if you like.

Thread resurection :D

I've got my battery in the boot & have been advised to use a fuse. I've put a 30amp fuse in a fuse holder in the boot beside the battery.

My work colleagues say that this isn't good enough as a starter motor draws big current and will pop it as soon as I crank it. Is this correct? Do I run a seperate unfused wire for the starter? Any help appreciated :)

Just doing some searching for myself on the link Col posted, is this an acceptable setup?

1. 250amp Mega Fuse (it's the biggest they do)

2. Mega Power Fuse Holder

I believe the cable that runs to the battery currently is:

475 475/0.40 mm2 = 60 OD = 14.5mm 415amp £8.81

Is this suitable? Is it the same spec as 4 gauge?

Bump...

Anyone know how much wire to order (length) from engine bay to boot via under the car? I dont have my car here to measure it...

Going to get the stuff from http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.e...e/homepage.php same as some of the other people here...

Any advice appreciated as I need to move the battery to fit Greddy plenum.

I went with 15ft it worked out just about right
