Big Girls Blouse (LOL!) - just wander round it - no racing required!

But you will love giving it some oomph - also take someone round who can show you the correct 'line' and you'll love it

No need to get into a race - promise!

Up for this one, it's my "local" track.

Been around a couple of times, the first on a Classic day in my old GT6 (you won't remember them).

Was being very sensible until I saw an E Type in front of me, then a red mist came down and that was it !

I really didn't see them waving the black flag at me - honest !
(was young with hair then) !

Had a couple of goes in a Westfield (now 4 sale) and it's very good fun.

Not sure an auto TT is the best thing for the new bendy track though - "red mist" could be expensive !

Still good fun watching the other drivers "Not race" !!!

Welcome to the Club.....

Hope to see you at Combe.

Are you thinking of a MkIV at somtime or sticking with your iii ?

The iii was the first Supe that I lusted after, but by the time I could afford one, I fell in love with the shape of the IV.

Both brilliant.... !

After the cock up that was Billing 03, I was looking forward to a decent club stand at Japfest, a stand where we can all enjoy a get together and the public can enjoy Supra's along with all the other Jap cars on show..... no Supra's is a bit like having a British car show with no Fords.

First Billing and now this, we must be somewhat of a joke when it comes to club stands amongst the other Jap car clubs.

Thanks to Paul for the time and effort in trying to organise it, very much appreciated, no thanks to the very poor organisation and logistics at Japfest

you goin the long way round then?
you'd be better off comin up the A350 out of the back of poole, turning onto the A36 to Bath goin through the back of Bath and up the A46, take a right at Yate and you're there! i did that run twice a week for four months last year when we were installing the foundations for the new asda in poole.
there's a little car park just before you cross the M4 on the A46 (its just off M4 junct 18 so anyone comin up the M4 could meet there too:)) you'd probably be best off meetin there, i live just round the corner from there so id be happy to meet up with you guys and gals there:)

Hello Paul

Depending on where your members are coming from, if it is from chippenham side you need to go past the quarry car park, past the main competitors entrance and go into the far car park entrance which will be sign posted, anyone coming from chipping sodbury side it will be the first car park. We will be arranging signs to be put up directing the supra club and will mark out the area.

Can i please have your address so i can post out a map of castle combe showing the supra club on.

Thank you

ian cruickshank

ok,... now i’m a little confused
so... although the Japfest has NO available space for Supras, does this mean the ONLY Mk4 Supras on display at the show will be those parked in the public carparks and commandeered fields by the Supra hardcore, or.... will I still be able to see some display cars and exhibition/trade items for the Supra market.

Sorry to be negative, just would like to know if this will be worth the journey for Leicester.
:sly:

thanks,

Ed

Two questions the rules say you have to wear a helmet but doesn't say if they will supply them or not. And track insurance where do I get the cheapest decent cover???

SimonB
14-05-04, 17:50
You can hire helmets from race control, but they only have a few, so it's worth phoning them up and reserving one I reckon. If you think you might do more trackdays in the future just buy a bike helmet, but make sure it's BS6658 Type A approved (small blue label on the back). Mine cost about £80 IIRC.

About the only place I've found that does track day insurance is Competition Car Insurance. It's not that cheap for a full day's cover, plus it only covers the "rolling chassis", so not your engine if you completely stuff it. Dunno how much for just a couple of sessions, I'm going to give them a ring sometime. They normally have various options depending on what you want the total covered to be and how big an excess you want. You can insure for less than the car's value though, so you can insure for max cover £6000 say and that's the max they will pay out.

The no is 0115 941 5255

You could try phoning your insurance company but they are very unlikely to be any use.

SimonB
14-05-04, 17:57
By the way, the organisers said we can return to the club area after track sessions, we don't have to park in the track session car park.

My first session is at 09:38, with the briefing at 08:15! How early! Looks like I might travel up the night before and stay at the Travelodge or something. Second one is at 13:26...

For anyone that's got track time booked, the noise limit might be a problem. It's 100db measured 0.5m from the exhaust at 4500rpm according to the details I've got. I just measured mine, no cats, Nurspec WITH the baffle in at 106DB. It depends where they hold the meter I suppose, but it's gonna be close.

Anyone got a way of quietening it down?

If anyone else gets turned away from scrutineering due to failing the exhaust sound check then ask them to monicker the ticket and the organisers will sort out some sort of refund if you call them on Monday. That said the tickets might be like gold dust so you may be able to flog them on at the site.

Some fella that had literally just spent a lot of money having the body styling done apparently (I was stood next to his best mate and his 6 year old son when it happened). That corner where the 2 scoobs offed he hurtled up to it and all I will say is either his brakes failed or he forgot to use them cos he just barrelled straight off into the armco. Smacked the passenger side flatish into it then span across the opening in the fence went back end into the barrier, before sliding to a rest with the passenger side on the barrier.

Edited to say its all well and good to email them about next year but did you accompany it with a pictoral explanation of difference between ass and elbow???:p

I saw the damage to the scooby that went into the barrier. so if you want the biggest crowd around your car, dont spend thousands on body kits and paint jobs. Just stack it into the barrier. Seems like everyone wanted to poke, prod and take photos of the car.

Have to agree with everyone, great day out, nice to meet a few faces from the board, only downside for me was arriving first and wasting half an hour being sent all over the place by Castle Combe staff......even though I had arrived at the right place first off!!

A few lines from the staff walkie talky conversations

1/ "Err, not sure where the Toyota Subaru's are"!!
2/ "We've got Toyota's listed, what is a Supra?"!!

Thanks to Crimbo, Wilfman and Ian R for letting me join the mini convoy. The look on peoples faces (amazement) was GREAT!

Maybe if we had Supra T shirts on we could have recognised more members on the day. Putting my name down for one if it's not too late.

Great day! I think our area worked out pretty well in the end, loads of people walking by anyway. Good to see eveyone, some new faces too, and some I haven't seen for a while. Wayne was doing a good job trying to persuade anyone who walked past to buy a Supra, and his fiancee was busy chatting to just about everyone that came within a 2 mile radius! I too am completely toasted!

Cool vid of me there Tim, got any more? :)

The Supe performed superbly on track of course as usual, but I'm thinking an oil cooler might be on the cards. 128C oil temp at the end of the first session . Had to buy a new rad cap from Leon as my coolant was bubbling away.

Great drive back home too down the A360 with DB. I'll post up my piccies later.

Was a great day will be defo be up for it next year. Mind you I caught the sun a bit too perhaps we should arrange a group buy on sun block. Took part in my first mini convoy and enjoyed every minute.

Paul E's rad cap played up at the last SEM wonder if this is a common problem?

Good Day out, although no supras at south mimms which was strange

Got talked into getting on track when I arrived, someone had some spare passes, but as expected failed the noise test, aparantly 110db is pretty loud ! :)

Only saw Paul E in the end, saw that scooby fly off, felt sorry for him

Make sure you guys are at Rotorstock next week !!!

Yeah, great day out.
Woo it was hot, i got me a crinkly head.
Cheers to Damouk, Wilfman, Ray and another couple of dudes for the company gettin' there, (the best bit was that Jap' guy in a Honda full of Japs askin' us where Japfest was.....looked like he'd brought it with him..:D )
I think i saw Attilauk goin' round the track and another red Supe with a young lady givin' it some too.
Didn't get to meet anyone new tho' coz we shot off to the pub, birthday AND cupfinal day all in one!!
Must try harder next meet! see you then!:p
