My mate at work has a automatic diesel Hilux surf with a blown head gasket. We got chatting about replacement engines and i mentioned the freely available and cheap 2JZ-GE.

Ive seen the TT engine in Hi-luxs before on U-tube so im sure it will fit

BUT

What would he need to do to make it work

Is the engine a straight swap ?

Gearbox issues ?

Engine management ?

ect etc

Please advise

Love it!! Not so sure about the cart springs at the back... lol

No Cart springs at the rear , It has the full subframe of the mkiv in the rear with all the suspension and anti roll bar set up , Recently smoked a porshe on the m 25 felt really good at 148 mph the look on his face was priceless .

Does it feel stable in a straight line then?

Presume corners are a no go tho!! :D

Yea its perfectly stable in a straight line , Corners are not really a problem , I am in the process of changeing the rear springs as it does not squat as i found at Santa pod , A lot has changed sinse i brought it in from South Africa then it was std at 280 bhp and the rear was good but since ive started pushing over 500 we nead a few changes , Fortuneately i do it all myself so but then it wasent build as a drag truck but it is a fast road vehicle !
