supraturbochris
hello all. im looking at replacing my timing belt at the end of this month, but im a bit confused which one to go for. im looking at the power enterprise ones sold by envy on ebay, these any good? or should i just go with a stock belt? Im running stock cams and cam gears. thanks all.
ellis
Stock would seem to be more than adequate mate.
jevansio
I used a PE one when I went single, not even sure what the benefits of it are other than it's blue . Supposed to be made of kevlar or something to make them stronger than stock items but I wouldn't doubt it being a marketing ploy. I use a Gates timing belt now
Tricky-Ricky
Gates for me, unless you're running a pretty high tuned motor with lumpy cams, i really cant see it being a problem.
bigbloodyturbo
I haven't changed mine on the supra yet but on my previous cars i've always used stock as I remeber reading the info honda gives out on the endurance testing of the OE ones, they run it at twice engine speed for so many days, then boil it in oil for so many hours then run it again for the equivalent of two rotations of the earth. If OE Honda can do that then I'm sure OE toyota can do the same so I dont think PE or any other aftermarket brand will do any better TBH. JamesC
Is it best to get the water pump, tensioners or anything else changed when doing the timing belt? OE will be going on mine.
supraturbochris
thank you james, was just about to say that. anyone? also what price do toyota charge for the timing belt kit?
Tricky-Ricky
Toyota timing belt about £30-40 Gates £20, also i strongly suspect that the Toyota belts are made by one of the major belt manufactures, probably Gates, on the same production line with the same materials, just a different stamp;)
