Piston question for you MK4 guys n gals:-)

Is there a particular make of piston you generally use? Going by the fave tuner poll, I'd guess most of you choose HKS or JUN, would that be right?

Does price come in to your choice, in the mian I mean?

I think theres a few different makes of pistons going in the supras now, JUN are probably the ones to go for but they arent cheap (cosworth pistons rebranded).

JE's are good. HKS alter the compression ratio, and turn the engine into a interference type with 264 cams as they do not have valve cut outs. I have no knowledge of the JUN's, i.e weight etc. Their stuff is normally good.

I gather you guys don't need pistons until 500+ hp or so, is that about right?

What's the ideal comp ratio for that sort of power? and what do they run standard while we're here:)

500 seems fine on stock. It all depends on what fuel, how much fuel, and what boost.

Stock compression is 8.5:1

What boost do you want to run. This will have a major factor in deciding your comp ratio.

So dropping the comp to around 8:3 to run a bar and half maybe 2 bar and mapping the ecu nicely would probably be ok? Is that a fair route to go?

1.5 sounds a lot more realistic than 2 bar.
