Coilovers

A quick poll on what car enthusiasts think "coilover" means

Right that's that settled.

I'm sure there's a thread of me and one or two others argueing about this.

Basically I was trying to highlight the difference between the technical definition and what people commonly refer to as 'coilovers'.

Is this a trick question? The correct answer isnt on the poll. Its clearly a female contraceptive device.

I wondered this myself, surely the stock set up is a coil over set up, a coil over the damper...

It's obviously the second option. The first refers to adjustable suspension.

Do you see inboard springs, remote dampers or a torsion bar, or a transverse spring or a leaf spring or hydragas struts where your suspension components reside?

I *knew* Id get pulled up for that lol. I know it doesnt adjust height, I just couldnt think of anything modern and suspension related. Pillow ball top mounts! Thats what I should have said. But then Id have to know what they were.

It's useful, if you understand what impact you will have when fiddling. I actually pulled over less than a mile into a lap at the Ring earlier this year as the car just didn't feel quite right, checked the EDFC and I'd set my F/R settings the wrong way round. 3 seconds later I'm away again, a happy lad.
