View Full Version : If you only use one slot of the double DIN... what do you put in the other?

I'm quite fond of my Pioneer in my 200SX and wouldn't mind fitting it to my Supra, but as it's only a single DIN what do I put in the other slot?

I bought a universal 'pocket' to fill the hole - should be able to pick one up from any old car audio store. It hold a couple of CD's and all your little bits n' bobs. Looks nice and neat too!

However, I have just procured a Blitz SBD-ID3 and Powermeter, so those will soon be filling up the spare slot I should imagine

Cheers, J :p

This isnt the best picture but gives you an idea of what the pocket looks like if you havent seen one before.

Dave,

If you do a search :p this has been covered quite a bit :p

;)

I put a thread up a few months back after doing mine:

http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12953&highlight=autoleads

Hope that helps :D

I fitted one of those DIN pockets too. It's rubbish! My minidiscs land on the back seat when I accelerate

James is right. Any loose items in the pocket will become irritating and potentially dangerous projectiles. Best leave it empty.

Toyota do a good selection of DIN sized hole fillers - a 'shelf' with a lip on the front to stop stuff falling out, a blanking plate with 'Toyota' embosed onto it, cup holders that spring out at the touch of a button, CD / Mini Disk holders and so on....

I also posted a bit of info in this thread (http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9834) too - I like the triple gauge idea but I have a pile of other Toyota items at home too for when the time comes, I tend to source them from scrapyards.

LOL The thought of having to duck as a packet of Polos flies from the slot and nearly decapitates the passenger!!! :D

Would an Apexi RSM fit in there...or maybe a Greddy turbo timer...?

Coz i may take my blanker out and put something in there instead.

When I first got my supra it had little drawers in the bottom DIN pocket labelled CARD, COINS and SPARE. I assumed that was from Japan as I haven't seen anything similar in this country.

Did anyone elses supra have one of those? It was quite good so I might actually put it back in :)

Here's a picture of it. It was FREE BOX not SPARE :)

Cheers!

The top is the headunit.

The bottom is an advanced graphic for fine tuning the audio ouput, lots of filter settings and other stuff, including cycling equaliser patterns that look good in the dark.

Again I ask would an Apexi RSM fit in there...or maybe a Greddy turbo timer...?

Coz if it does, I may take the blanking plate out and put the RSM in its place.

I've got a RSM in mine. It will fit, but it's just a little bit too tall to fit easily. It also doesn't really have any easy way of mounting it - you'll have to make up some kind of bracket. I actually used one of those Halfords pocket things and some aluminium plate sprayed black to make some end plates. The hide away part of the RSM lives in the pocket part if you see what I mean.

Here's a pic. I couldn't be arsed to put the front of the stereo on :)

Will the SAFC-II fit in there?
