spare keys?

I only have one key for car so i went down to toyota on sat to ask if they could get me a spare, i explained that i aint worried about the fob i just wanted a basic key, the geezer behind the counter then started going on about how the actual key is chipped and a normal key would not start the car. he phoned me back today sayin "no joy im afraid, cant get one". Is that it? am i going to have to accept the fact that i cannot get another key? Surely just a cut key would start the car if the alarm is off?

I've had similar off of MR T, he wouldnt let me have a key either because its got a transponder in it....errrrrm nope. They wouldn't accept I was right so i took it down to Timpsons and they did me one then and there! Job done.

he is telling you porkies mate, you can get a key from most key cutters but you will need to take prove of ownership;)

The guy at toyota is at it,i went to misterminit and had 2 made up for £7 IIRC and they work perfectly!

Got mine from toyota, spoke to the parts dept and he cut me one while I waited, black plastic with the toyota logo, only cost me £6

my spare key (well my old one ) was just a piece of metal, no plastic housing or anything, get a key cut, get a business card from Timpson and stick it on the guy's forehead (with a bit of force lol!)
