Im currently in the market for a 500+bhp single turbo supra.

I have arund 9-10000 to play with but wanted to know what sort of things I should be looking out for?

I was considering buying a TT and installing a single turbo myself as im a qualified engineer but these things always tend to cost considerably more than buyng a car with the work already done.

What would be a good spec to look for that sort of money?

cheers

As Gaz said, i doubt you will get a well setup one.

Do yourself a favor and get taken out in some members cars.

Auto's, Manuals, big turbos and small.

My experience is that manuals with smaller turbo's seem to be the best/most popular.

Good luck and happy hunting. Oh and, you can have mine for 20k if you want.

I got Jurgen to import mine, highly rated. As with previous posts see if you can take a passenger ride in a big power car. When I got mine I was a bit overwhelmed when I opened it up properly. The bigger singles can be quite harsh to drive sometimes. I would personally buy one already done, as Ive read to do a "proper" single conversion it would cost your car budget alone.

As the guys have already said you will struggle to find a well setup one for your budget. The conversion alone costs upwards of £8k on a stock car.

The other thing to consider is the ongoing running costs, you will need to have a healthy bank balance to run a single. Though they can be reliable, parts are expensive and the single will go through them much faster than TT's. They eat tyres and if you drive them properly ;) brake discs and pads too.

In terms of spec, for the 520-550bhp mark you'd be looking at a T61 or T67dbb. Singles won't come with less power than that (unless they are not running any real boost, which would be kind of pointless). Auto's are not ideal with the single unless the box is uprated or it's running a lot of coolers and you have a spare box in the garage. Make sure it's got an unlocked ECU and been mapped by a known source (and thats not to say the 'specialists' are any good, you need to know your mapper)
