How about Chievley Services Nr Newbury, A34/M4 so easy for Southampton crew, Swindon Aylesbury and fairly easyish for us lot...just an idea. and I think Mawby knows a really good pub nearby which has room for parking...
What is the M3/A34 situation like these days? Last time I went through it was pretty bad. As for the pub, that'll be The Pelican Inn which is about 15 miles away but it's a really good drive there.
I go through it most days. There is still a lot of works going on but other than the rush hour traffic, it is not a problem.

The road works have a 40? limit around Chievley at the moment. Traffic is always slow around the junction comming from the A34. But it's very easy to get to and central.
Patrick/Susi (and anybody else from this area), interested in a mini convoy?
I like Green Supra's Newbury (A34/M4) meeting idea, relatively easy from here :)

It would be rude not to my dear fellow!!!
The A34/M4 junction is pants with the roadworks around it, although the A34 is a nice bit of road heading south from there!
Count us in (again)........
You never know, may be sounding a bit more of a beast by then (that's the car, not me).
Once we found a suitable pub, would it be a good idea to let them know to expect us - just a thought !

I know of some of the pubs along the A33 one has a bigger carpark than the last one and again does food if you go for that option. I came down the A34 in both directions no problems at all.

I still prefer Cheively Services at Newbury A34/M4 Interchange VERY easy to get to but I appreciate the distance involved, though its a great drive there with NO CAMERAS, and I love to travel.
I just thought It would possibly also give a few people a chance to get there that we don't normally get to see, like the Swindon crew and posiibly people from the West and South its kinda right BANG in the midddle. but yep it is called a South East Meet, but it is in the Thames Valley.
Come on Guys n Gals. its only a little further.
TBH I don't care where I go....It would be nice to get away from all the traffic, cameras, and roadworks of the M25 area though.
But again I'll wait for Rosie's decision.

Cant remember how much space is at chieveley services, the place seems like one big bulding site right now....
The "building site" is the other side of the DC away from the services. The car parks are spilt into two. I average sized one that gets used predominantly by cars and one larger one that gets used by commercial vehicles.
TBH, I dont think there is a lot of difference in size bewteen Chieveley and the Reading services.

I'd stay away from Chievely as I've heard bad things about the roadworks there. Although if thats the choice I'll still turn up!

The roadworks are virtually almost finished and do not restrict any access to or from the services or the motorways...i don't mind where I end up either though.

What was up with the car in the end then? Plugs?
It was mainly plugs, yes! I put some cheap 15 quid ones in and all problems have gone!
One of the intercooler hard pipes (HKS)is dented where someones has tried to get it out of the rubber seal with a screwdriver! This is leaking, so I need a new one of those too!

Only problem might be parking together, those places can get very busy very quick if the weather is good.

Ok guys, who was it that was suggesting pubs with big car parks near (ish) this place? In fact, any suggestions would be good, I need to get in contact with them and check it's all cool. Bearing in mind a little drive to the pub perhaps involving motorway is always good :D

The motorway route will be more fun, but if it's congested then the A34 + A4 route is a good one. Only problem with the A4 is it's a single carriage way, but it's a BIG road with plenty of places to overtake if you get stuck behind somethine.
As this is my lunch time pub when I'm at work I will ask them tomorrow when I'm in next and see what they say. It shouldn't be a problem. I'll let you know tomorrow.

Ok, I've checked with the pub and they say we're more than welcome but they get very busy on sundays so we might not all be able to fit in. It might be worth trying to find a less popular pub to go to.

This is going to be interesting!!! I've actually "organised" (I use the term losely lmao) a supra meet as well... mainly mk3 supras, but we have about 4-5 mk4s comming too about 20-25 cars comming in total (lost count lol)..... its on march the 7th.. and is in reading at about midday!!!!
With proberly over 50 supras rolling about readings going to SERIOUSLY wonder what hit them!!! More info on suprasonic (http://www.suprasonic.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=720)
WE are thinking of moving down to that pub in winnersh.. over teh odd roundabout from showcase and behind that hotel (one day I'll get its name!).. think we'll just fit there!!!

Not sure if your still looking for suggestion for pubs in the area –but here are a few………
We use the Old Devil Inn for our Ducati Club meetings, they are OK with loads of noise and burnouts etc even on a Sunday, the car park can cope with an extra 40+ cars and they have a good selection of food and beer.
Old Devil Inn is at Knowl Hill Berkshire, on A4 between Maidenhead & Reading. Its about 12 miles from A34/M4 mostly on Motorway and fast A roads so its unlikely that too many people would be getting lost on the way. They are open all day Sunday.
Other suggestions are The Pack Horse Inn Harwell, about 8 miles down A34, it has a large car park and overflow area but can get busy on Sundays, again they tolerate noise and burnouts in their car park quite well. I think they are open all day Sunday.
Alternatively there is the Worlds End pub just north of Chievely, its bit of a drab place but lots of parking and tolerant to foolish behaviour in/on motor vehicles. :)
Mawby suggested the Pelican Inn, or was this no good for some reason ?
I may have missed that bit of the thread.
Dosn't matter two me, but it might be usefull to contact the landlord before we turn up mob handed !
Just a thought....
I did, and I did, and they told me they'd probably to be too busy for us to fit in the car park. Both of the pubs suggested by whele sound good.

The car's running ok, just prefer to keep it at sensible speeds until things are squared away! And I know that I wouldnt be able to do that at a meet :)
Think that's sensible......
The trouble is that you get "drawn in" to going a little quicker than you intend to when there's a few of you.
You seem to get that "invisible to radar" feeling when you are in the middle of a convoy of other maniacs (sorry - I mean club members).
The last thing you want is to be concerned that you can't stop as quick as "the car in front"

I telephoned the Old Devil this afternoon
They are not usually too busy Sunday Afternoon, so anytime after 1 ish is fine by 'the management'
He did say to 'take care' at the pub entrance, the trafic moves pretty quickly through that section of the A4.

M4 towards London. Turn Left jct 8/9 head down A404(M) turn left onto A4 head to Knowl Hill about (2 miles) the Old Devil is on the left at the top of a little rise.
There are other quicker ways to get there, but people are likely as not to get seperated through Reading and maybe lost on the ring-road forever.
The Ducati Club are meeting there also on Sunday, but they meet at 12 and go off on a ride out at about 1pm.
Therefore, if its Sunny I might see you guys when I pass you on the bike, if its shite weather I'll probably still see you when I pass you in the car :flame Dev

Well if there are only gonna be 6 other people there and most are gonna be at winnal i will meet at winnal and go and see my mates in fleet afterwards rather than go up to chieveley. What's happened to the other 30 we had at fleet? I have to say that despite all supragals and mawby's hard work the turn-out is looking a bit dire. See how things shape up but if more people don't commit and confirm this could be the first SEM non-happening event!!

Well I took a leaf out of Ash's book and went the totally wrong way home. Ended up going the wrong way down the A4 and having to come back down the M4 ending up on the cack bit of the M25. Cracking to meet the gang again. See ya all soon and will post the pics I took as soon as poss.

coming back was interesting as I had the digi cam on the passenger seat ready just incase I see a cool car and a R34 Gtr goes past me, so I filmed it! I took one pic but as it was dark they may have though the flash was a speed camera! lol!
Might try hosting the vid albeit dull but it was through dartford tunnel which made it more interesting!
BTW Rosie what camera was that you had? am I right in assuming it was a digi camcorder which you can take still images with?

No - I was busy following the silver supra in front - who I quickly realised was on his way home!!
