wilkorangerover
hi my friend has found a greddy egt gauge in his single turbo supra he has just bought, it was just in the passenger side footwell, so he s plugged it into the little on/off box, but the needle stays on 9 even when the engine is of, so iam guessing the needle is knackered??? cheers

wilkorangerover
it has power i think because the on / off light lights up, and the buttons work on the gauge cheers
wilkorangerover
right when the ignition is of the needle moves to 4, as soon as you turn the ignition on the needle points to 9, and dosn`t move even when engines been running a bit , is this right??? also has anybody replaced the back lights in gauges before? cheers Edited November 3, 2008 by wilkorangerover (see edit history)
Robert
i would say the sensor is not working or the sensor wiring has a fault, the sensor unclips from the loom to get a replacement part.
wilkorangerover
are there any setting on the on/of box to change?
Robert
i can't remember off hand if there are on the EGT gauge control box, i know there is on the boost gauge box, either way it really should be showing some change in temp form when the car is started from cold to when it is hot. MaveriK
Check the power cables. I had a hell of a game with mine and it turned out it needed a constant and a switched feed else it did exactly what yours is doing.
wilkorangerover
there are two thin black wires not connected up.... also no back light, can backlights be swapped?
wilkorangerover
i think its just a wiring issue, does anybody have a wiring diagram for this? cheers
Joeatphr
hi my friend has found a greddy egt gauge in his single turbo supra he has just bought, it was just in the passenger side footwell, so he s plugged it into the little on/off box, but the needle stays on 9 even when the engine is of, so iam guessing the needle is knackered??? cheers Shouldnt stay in that position, could be bad. Get a volt meter and run some test on the gauge. If you get current then maybe its something else. It should be at the bottom and read EGT when applying throttle. I have one in stock if you need another. Thanks, Joe
wilkorangerover
there were bare wires touching, now the needle shoots round to 12 when ignition turned on
