Guigsy Posted November 2, 2008 Share Posted November 2, 2008 the NA is hard and expensive to tune. you wont get much horsepower out of it economicly. However if your getting the 6 speed NA which are quite rare then its going to be easier to get the engine transplant. its the same geerbox as the TTs use and they an hold rediculous bhp . As far as bodykits and things go there is a huge ammount of choice. check through the site there are various galleries. personaly i dont like bomex because of fast and furious. but others do. personal choice. get what you prefer Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I wasnt after massive bhp and if i get bored ill get a conversion. The reason im not looking to buy a tt is i cant find a 1999 tt manual and if i could it would prob be around 18k! Put it this way, it will cost you around £1000-2000 just to get 15-20 BHP and should you want more then expect big money;) Question why does a TT have to be such a late model? Guigsy Posted November 2, 2008 Share Posted November 2, 2008 the age and mileage of these cars doesnt realy matter. you see them with 150k miles running perfectly quite often. mine is 130k 1994 and flawless. There is no "superchip"/easy bhp gain for the NA other than exhaust and maybe air filter. but even the stock filter+airbox is better than most aftermarket mods. Its not like modifying a fiesta. Toyota made the cars as sportscars to go quickly and spent a lot of money in R+D making the whole airbox thing work properly Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Thats not the case here, there really is very little you can do to an NA to get more power, it's a not a case of a lack of products or technology/development (there's plenty of that been done on the 2JZ!). It's a simple fact that you cannot get more than 15-20 bhp without spending very significant amount of sums... well unless you use cheating gas If you do want more power further down the line it's about £2.5k for a TT swap, which is actually very good value for money considering the amount of power gained. It's stock. One other thing - check if it's a new import, especially the V5 for the CO2 reading.
