Which Transmision Fluid

Hi, can anybody confirm which type of transmission fluid I need for my 93 TT jap supra. I have been running it for 10 years so it could do with being changed. I went to both Toyota dealers in Nottingham and they were unable to supply any. I asked what they would put in if I booked it in for an oil change and they said they would put in Dexron III. I rang Castrol and asked if their Dexron III is suitable and they said only for topping up, not for replacing. I have looked through this forum and found a reference to Toyota product 08886-81015, is that the right stuff?

Any advice would be appreciated

Thanks

SORRY! Its an auto,

I have heard that Toyota type IV is compatible with the gearbox but not with the fluid already in there, so that would mean flushing the whole thing out. Has anybody done this?

Thanks for the info but I am still a bit confused. I assume it has Toyota Type II in it but I can't get any. After 10 years it is getting a bit low (still above min) but the reason I wanted to change it is that the gear changes seam to be getting later (revs higher before changing). I thought that might be due to the fluid getting too old and thick. If I change only what is in the sump the fluid must be compatible with what is in there as much fluid will be still in the workings of the box. If I use a fluid not compatible I have to somehow flush the old fluid out which I would rather not.

Also if Toyota type IV is compatible with dexron III I am surprised that Castrol told me not to use theirs.
