Doh!! I'm an idiot!

Hi all, a couple of nights ago, I started my Supe and for some reason (don't know why really) I got out of my Supe and checked the rear lights, then I realised that my Fog light was on as it is placed just below my rear bumper...

Hmm, I thought, that's weird, so I got back into my Supe and realised what I had done.

After fitting my CF weave stick on dash, I have covered the Fog light switch over and it must have switched the Fog light on...:(

I should have realised this before I applied it but I concentrated too much on getting it lined up correctly that I forgot about the Fog light switch...

I have disconnected the Fog light for the time being but does anyone have any ideas about what I can do about the Fog light switch without damaging the CF weave finish dash??

The fog light switch was there before, near the mirror switch, but not anymore...

:D

I know!! :D

Either relocate the switch to another place or take the switch out and drill a hole through from the rear to make sure you're drilling in the right place. That's what i did & the switch just pushed back in. ;)

I have thought of that but how easy does the switch come out??

How big is the switch too as I may need a measurement...

Mine just pushed out from the rear quite easily.

Once the switch is out, just find a drill bit the same size as the hole already there. Is it a round switch? If not drill a sensible size hole then use a needle file for the rest ;)

Yeh it's a round switch, any rough ideas of measurements though?? :)

I hope mine pushes out easy enough though like your one did...

Edit: The other thing is, i'll need to take that part of the dash off too won't I??

Well, 'cause the car is a J-spec, it didn't have a factory rear fog light switch, so I don't think anybody will know what yours looks like.

Yeh im sure it did, my old '94 n/a had the same swich...

It's like a circular switch with a red blob on it and lights up when it's on...

My '94 n/a used exactly the the same switch for the Fog light...

Can you not feel the outline of the switch under the sticker, if so press hard around the edge getting closer and closer to the outline of the switch until the switch is clearly visible, then just cut around it removing the sticker which lays on top.

Sort of like what you would do for a light switch etc, when wallpapering

Yeh I thought of that but how easy do the wires comes out of the current Fog light switch and how far do they go before the wires start to stretch??

How long is a piece of string?

It really depends on how generous the installer was when it was fitted - mines as tight as a wotsit. Just splice some extensions on there if you don't want to drill a hole for the switch.

I think he's still under the impression that this is a Toyota factory fitted switch, on a J-Spec car..

That's what I would have suggested. Just feel out where the switch is, and carefully cut around it...

It won't pass an MOT with no button matey :(

I know mate, I have got the fog light switch out as I got it to push through thankfully...:)

I have also started drilling the CF weave dash fininsh to get the fog light switch to go back through and is taking longer than I thought it would...:(

Yeh I can feel it but to cut around it isn't possible as the Fog light switch is too far up the dash and also the CF weave finish is too thick to cut around unfortunetly...:(

I have managed to drill a hole out and I am going from there but is taking bloody forever!!
