View Full Version : Autochangers

The single CD player in the Soarer is on the way out. So rather than replace the whole headunit, I am going to follow the advice of keeping it, and running an autochanger through an FM modulator for playing CDs.

This is because I don't want the hassle of attempting to match a headunit to look stock, and fit well. But prefer to keep it all looking standard.

Now, bearing in mind that I know very little about this sort of stuff, any help on which one to choose, and which are suitable would be appreciated.

Thanks :)

Personally, I'd go for the Sony CDX-444RF. We've done quite a few of them now, and never had a problem with any of them.

You should be able to pick one up for less than £200. They retail for £229.95. I can probably get one for about £180ish

I've seen the radio's in Soarers, and the wiring, and the facia, and the external volume control.... I think you're making the right choice!

Had a look at it. Looks good to my untrained eyes.

I think I'll go for it, unless there is a 12CD version of it?

Is it easy to fit, or is it better to bring it to you?

Thanks Matt :)

Whatever you prefer... It's not too difficult to install.

A Soarer and and Supra!

I used to have a Soarer myself. I was tempted to get another but plumped for a Supe instead.

Good luck with the CD changer. Do you not have the "bread-box" CD changer in the boot then?

Trooper, nope just a single CD. Did you have the TT or V8?

Matt, got it today :) I'll call you if I have any problems, going to try to fit it tonight/tomorrow. Thanks for the speedy service.

I had a V8 LTD (with the TV and air suspension).
My brother's got it now and of course is chuffed to bits with it.

I see. I looked at the V8s, the toys were attractive, but not as fun as a TT IMHO.

How do you rate it v the Supra?

That's a very interesting question and something that I think about often. I think the Soarer is a more "all round" car; it has bigger back seats, better shaped boot and a big comfortable cabin. The Supra on the other hand is more focused and alert.

Both great cars; gorgeous to look at, fast, rare and beautifully engineered.
