Mine's a '95 UK and they work on mine. I don't think they've been retro-fitted.

JohnK's old white UK was a 95 and had a working central LED brake light, which he didn't fit in 5 odd years of ownership.

Mine's now real, just need to rip out the interior to splice into the brake wire to make it actually work!

I know its generally missing off the K plate j-specs, sometimes the early L plate j-specs too.

Its generally missing off the L plate UK specs and some M plate UK specs.

I think it must tie in to the UK legality of them.

Not a simple retro fit either, the wiring simply isnt there, you have to run new wires I believe.

Not on mine. It was a 1st week production jspec and had the manf. date stamp on it to show April '93. Every jspec I've seen has had a rear brake light strip in place, only the UK models seem to miss them (IIRC it was some to do with the fog light requirement)
