Best way to start on a flat battery?

I've gone flat again, and was going to get a jump off my aunt later on, but after reading another thread about the dangers of jump starting, I'm not so keen. So, what do I do? I can't really call out the AA again, I've had them out like 6 times in the past 2 months, and I was going to buy an engine starter, but that seems to be the same as a jump. Any suggestions? Cheers

Wrong!!

Donor car running, attach positive lead to donor car and then to dead cars battery, then attach earth to donor car earth on battery, then attach the other end to an engine mount on the dead car, this gets maximum cranking amps to the starter motor, what you want to do is start the car, not charge the battery with the donor car, you might as well use a charger than do that...!

Keep the revs around 2500 on the donor car leave it revving for about 15 secounds then crank dead car... brrrrrm!!
