I am running a Rockie Fosgate Punch2 Sub from kenwood amp.. yes I have had it loud but not so louch that I would have though it would have done any damage... wanst distorting etc. most of the time it is at normal volume just driving to and from work...

I noticed this morning that every now and then at reasonably loud (can still talk over it.. just) i am getting the odd pop on some notes... if i turn it down it stops...

I have turned down the gain and upped the head unit and visa versa and it is all the same, the rest of the time is is perfect. deap rich and very clear... the pop is not regualar spaced and i can only describe the sounds as if someone had flicked the cone hard.

any ideas?

oh and Mr Harwood if you are reading this say hello to your friend who stopped me in the pay and display in crawley center to ask if i was on the forum and if I was aware of you... he made me open my window and all the snow that was piled on it fell in on my lap....soggy groin!

Going by that description, it could be a number of things. Easiest way to rule out the sub, is take the whole enclosure and plug it into someone elses car...
Might be worth checking the power and earth supplies on the amp.

Who was the guy in Crawley? - Sorry 'bout that! ;)

Cheers,

I havent actually noticed it again since I posted this so I will keep an eye on it. If it comes back then I will try the process of ellimination jobbie.

Re who it was in crawley I cannot remeber, he said he knew you Matt and was friends with one of the Steves I think. It all went out of my mind shortly after as I was tring to get out of the car park after 1/2 inch of snow had just falled in 15 minutes. A little worrying when the car slide sideways when you are poitning straight :conf:

Ahhh, the guy in Crawley must have been Mike. He's Steve M's brother.

Stevo, Your amp shouldn't cut out. not unless you're really caning it to death.
I'd have a guess that theres something wrong with the installation if your amp cuts out. It could be as simple as incorrect gauge power cable, incorrect impedence loading now that the amp is bridged or just poor mounting/ventilation.

Well I've got a good one for ya Matty.

My amp cuts out and gives no sound at all, but only after the rear heater has been on for a while and is not actually doing anything. As soon as you turn off the heater, the amp kicks back in again!! Any ideas??:conf:

Dodgy installation? :p

Sorry mate, no idea without looking. Does it lose power or just sound?

Tim, Why?

Dodgy installation!!! Why I oughta!! :twak:

I'll check that later!

Not sure if it looses power as I'm normally driving at the time, but it does still get hissing through the speakers, so I'm guessing that it still has power, just no signal or summit.....

.....I'll have a mooch around and see if I can find anything.
