Right, over in the Tech section I have been asking about the idle on the NA's as I thought ours was rev'ing a bit high on cold start. It idles at 2,000rpm, where as my TT idles at 1,200rpm.

So to all you NA's out there, come forward and vote, Im hoping this wont be the shortes vote in history due to NA numbers.

:conf: :innocent: ;) :D

Forgive me for sounding stoopid :stupid: but....

By idling, do you mean reving to 2000rpm once you've started the engine to warm it up?

Faye

No, we mean that without pressing the accelerator the engine will hold at 2k revs until its warmed up a bit.

Mine revs up to about 1500 - 1800 then drop after a couple of mins.. So you don't sound far out..

2k is maybe a little high but then I only know from my car. Mine will idle at around 1600-1700 max, I suppose if I stuck the lights, heater, air con on it might go up that high.

Not sure if I agree on the voting. 2000rpm is too high for cold start. Mine idles at about 1600

Exhaust and decat Dude, it seems a lot/if not all NA's idle this high.

Can everyone who voted please list any mods that you mght have that might affect idle like John says, exhaust, decat, induction......

Induction kit, no cats at all, HKS Hiper.
I can drive about 1/3 of a mile without having to touch any pedals at all on these cold mornings.

Mine is bog-stock and it revs up as high as 2000 on a cold start.

Unless my three-spokes are affecting it somehow. :innocent:

PMSL Darren, well that blows the theory out that it might have been something to do with induction/zorst. Guess Toyota had always intend for the NA's to rev just below or on 2,000rmp on a cold start.

So to my next question, can this be adjusted on the NA ?????

And Darren, 3 spoke, dude, your asking for a whiping http://www.shaunssite.co.uk/forum/images/smiles/smile_whip.gif

Just thought it seemed odd that so many N/A's idle at 2000 on cold start. Seems a tad too high. Mine idle's around 1500/1600
