im just about to put some range rover brembos on mine.i think there bigger than the evo brembos. not quite as big as 16pot though!

Am happy with my "poxy" UK Spec's

i would hazard a guess but i would think you will not find Brembo, AP, Alcon etc making 12 and 16 pot brakes and thats probably for a very good reason

The number of pistons does not affect the area of the pad or the brake torque applied by them...

16 tiny ones will be a complicated mess compared to 6 big ones.

im on j-specs at the mo and there just poor. uk specs are very good i think. not sure what these brembos will turn out like.

I'm still waiting for someone to post up stopping distances for these big brake kits, as all we tend to here is 'they feel better' comments.

Big brakes I can understand, the larger surface area gives better heat dissipation and would allow for more reapetable performance.

12 and 16pot calipers in my mind are pub talk.

Well as 12 pot brakes are obviously 3 times better than the larger 4 pot OEM brakes then the stopping distance is obviously a third as much. Obviously.

Stopping distances won't be any better, until the inferior brakes start to get too hot. I suspect you knew that already?

The KAD/UK setup on my current (MUCH faster) Supra were good & strong at the Nurburgring this year, whereas I'd cook the J-Spec ones on my stock TT last year quite easily and early in a lap.

i think Tarox make a 12 pot but i have never seen 16 pot, any one have a pic of these mythical beasts ?

Deceleration is down to tyre grip. If the brakes can lock the wheels (invoke ABS) at a given speed they are able to extract the maximum deceleration from the tyre grip.

Bigger discs and pads help with heat/effort management and affect bite/feel/friction.

Pistons distribute pedal force across the back of the pad...you only need enough pistons to cover the back of the pad effectively for even pressure distribution.
