Hi all,

Before getting my new Focal Access speakers from Matt next week I've purchased an Alpine CDA7893R second hand. Unfortunately the previous owner cut some of the wires on the back so I've got a but of an install question.

Coming out the back of the stereo:

There's a yellow wire called Battery Lead

A black wire called ground lead

A red wire called switched power ignition lead

Coming out of the proper connector I'm joining all the wires too to tidy things up theres:

Earth

12v ign

12v memory

So I thinking the earth wire and ground lead connect

And the red wire switched ignition goes to 12v ign

But does memory wire go to battery lead or does battery lead have to go directly to the battery as the name suggests, in which case where does the memory lead go?

Also why does it need to go direct to the battery the old one used to just plug straight into the normal wiring loom, is necessary?

Sorry if this is a bit confusing but a nice simple job has turned into a pain as the plugs not there:(

Thanks in advance

The memory goes to the battery so that the radio stations don't disapear everytime you turn it off and it keeps all of your settings.

The 12v ign should go to the switched ignition live, so that it comes on when you get in.

Easy.

All sorted now. I haven't wired it direct to the battery just placed it on the normal loom with an extra fuse etc.

If anyone knows any reason why I shouldn't do it this way please tell me! I'll probably run it direct from the battery when I get the wire from Matt next week anyway so checking it will be ok in the mean time really.
