Supra off road for over a week now :(

As some of you may know, my Supra is off the road at the moment due to a fuel leak (from the main fuel line im guessing as it is leaking from the same place as the brake fluid was coming from under that plastic cover above the diff').

Even Though I have had a week off work, due to general lazyness and not having a suitable place anymore to work on cars my Supra is still off the road.

I am not one for putting cars into main dealers (especially as I am a qualified mechanic by trade) to be repaired but I am seriously considering it at the moment as I need/want it back on the road. My local Toyota dealer is very very good (Octagon Toyota, Bracknell) but at £95 + VAT an hour labour it may cost more than I have budgeted to spend.

Anyone have any suggestions, maybe specialists on here that may be able to do the work at a better price etc.

for a fuel leak any of the traders here against a main dealer would be cheaper IMO

Im guessing the main fuel line (or the return line) has rotted through like the brake pipe did last year. I have has a quick look at under there and I'm guessing that the fuel tank and exhaust will need to come off to do the job properly. The car still runs fine (so maybe it's the return pipe?) but fuel is leaking onto the exhaust.............

If your qualified as a mechanic, why not do it yourself?

btw my car's been off the road since Feb :(

I now live in a flat, and I dont think the other resedents will appriciate my Supra being on axle stands in the car park!! The only suitable place I can get to work on it is in the Valet bay at work and I will only be able to use this at the weekend, and I cant leave the car in there if somthing should go wrong as we need touse it for valeting the rental cars during the week.

I changed that line in about 30 mins last weekend, it's not difficult at all provided the nuts can be undone. I can drop by sometime and give you some help if you want?

If it's safe to drive you can always bring it here, it's a lot easier on a hardstanding driveway! The car needs to be jacked up enough to get under it and access to the fuel filter and the connection to the fuel tank supply line up near the top of the tank.

Cheers Darryl :) So I'm guessing that you don't need to remove the exhaust or the Tank then? How much was the pipe in the end? If its only a quick job then I might see if I can get it done at work...if not then what beer do you drink!! I'll let you know what I am planning to do very soon.

No need to remove anything, at least on mine the exhaust didn't get in the way. The pipe was only £18 +VAT.
