Has anyone used one of these or know if there are any others availible for the supra.

Looking for a good quality piston damper to stop the engine moving under high stress.

Also would like to keep my strut brace if at all possible

Any help would be great ;)

Most are just a couple of rubber sleeves on the inside, not actually seen any that are real dampers, try a mountain bike damper, but you would need to fabricate mounts, i have one sitting around, just haven't got around to making mounts, not convinced that its needed, unless your running silly power.

Doesnt the 'damper' effect prevent that?

One thing I know for sure solid engine mounts are a no go, they give the effect you just mentioned

If you can actually find a proper "damper" it should help, but as i said i have yet to find a dedicated aftermarket "damper" that isn't made of rubber;) i know some older BMWs had a genuine engine damper fitted, so if you can find one, or go the mountain bike route.

Would be very interested to see it if you fabricating one, cross your hand with gold if could make two ;)

Why do you need one?

If your engine mounts are ok you shouldn't need one...if your engine mounts arn't ok then you need to change them not add more weight!

When I was at SRD, JamieP noticed that my turbo was kissing the suspension housing so think very much needed, would think the engine mounts would be ok as he car as only done 12k miles but thats only IMO,

Yea you need to sort something mate as you will end up with a cracked manifold, at the end of the day it should not have really been sold to you like that, id try and tap sumo up for some trd engine mounts and a damper;)

Would the TRD mounts not help with them being more "solid"?

Yeh really think they would, something I definatley had on my to do list anyway, possible over winter when the car is off the road as would think it would be a fairly big job. Was seeing if there was a quicker solution that i could install straight away.

Engine mounts will reduce movement way more than a little damper + the block isn't designed to be stopped from moving by a little damper at the top, it's designed to only use the engine mounts.

I'd personally say that TRD engine mounts are the way forward....though I am surprised that the T04Z is getting that close.

Just re-profile the suspension turrent ;) :p

The reason its so close is because he is running a T51 v-band manifold with a T4 adapter so the T04-Z fits;)

Col do you have a photo to show how the turbo sits?

How wide is the V-band/T4 adapter? Is it an HKS adapter? It may be possible to fit a narrower one so there is more clearance.

I've just been outside to test mine, I have the factory fitted OEM engine mounts and get around 5mm movement at the turbo at high rpms, the TRD mounts should minimise this a bit.

Other option would be to cut the V-band flange off the manifold and get a T4 flange welded on, although this could create a weak point on the manifold.
