Autobahn first decat

Ive just found an autobahn88 first decat, has anybody dared to try one of these?

I'll let you know more about the quality when i get it, (its coming from hongkong) but i'm not sure how long it'll be before i install as i'm unsure of what it'll let the turbo's boost to, I have a blitz nurspecR at the moment and i dont want to install the decat an then find that i'm hitting boost cut. it might not, dont know, does anyone know if i would be alright installing this without a BCC?

Theoretically you could get away without having a bcc/fcd, but you would have to have a big restrictor ring in there to keep the boost right down, which would make the decat fairly pointless. The first cat is the most restrictive, so it is this one which will cause the boost to rise

this is prob going ot but my plan was to upgrade the fuel pump, run 1st and second decat with a restrictor ring from envy and a FMIC(only because my SMIC is a bit shady) I thought that would bring me up to BPU and the restrictor ring would keep me below 1.2 bar (safe). Do i now need to add a boost controller to my list?

Not if it is a J-spec Supra.

You'll also need a fuel cut defender, cooler grade of plugs, boost gauge and ideally an EGT gauge as well.

The only reason you would have a boost controller on a j spec, is if you were fitting a 1 bar RR and had the controller to turn i up to 1.2 as and when

I got an autobahn silicon intercooler pipe off egay the other day - fit is nice and seems reasonable quality.

I've also seen these 1st decats on egay - they dont seem much cheaper than buying from reputable traders on here such as CW, Envy and Whifbitz though?

i got mine for £50, i dont think to many traders will match that. all depends on the fit i suppose, no use if its cheap and doesn't fit well. I will find out this week as i'm having it fitted at long and at last.

just got the autobahn 1st decat fitted and it fits fine, its a little bit longer than the cat it replaces and so the gearbox bracket needed welding to suit but it wasn't a big job. Sensor also fitted fine into the pre welded boss that was on it.

Well if they're selling these at £50 I suppose I'd better drop my price to £40 then.

Personally I'd buy your second hand one if I was after a decat pipe. I can't understand why selling something "slightly longer" and requires the use of a welder to make it fit is acceptable. What happens if you want to put the cat back in for an MOT?

you put the 2nd cat back on, not the 1st.

I already had the 2nd cat on but it looks like it's giving up the ghost. Hence my need to put the 1st back on too and sell off the decat pipe.

thats a pain mate, pity you couldn't borrow a good cat from somebody local to you so you could get through your mot.

It's no problem. The car's almost stock anyway so refitting a cat doesn't bother me that much. It's not like it makes that much difference to normal driving.
