Brushing/Scraping noise from offside rear wheel.

Right,

After hearing some noises from the rear wheels, I replaced the pads as they looked low. They were not as bad as I thought, but I am still getting the noise.

Sounds like a brushing/light scraping noise. I thought it might be the handbrake, but the noise does not change if I pull it up while moving slowly.. Well it did screech after pulling it up a far bit.

Looking at previous posts it sounds like it might be a Wheel Bearing.

While the car was jacked up, one side only on Axel stands, I couldn't feel any movement but there was the noise when the wheel was rocked back and forth. I couldn't spin it as the other side was on the floor.

So bearing of HB pads?

Brushing scraping has to sound like HB pads down to the bone to me,

Plus don't wheel bearings make more of a grinding noise when the full weight of the car is on them, not a scraping noise when the weight of the car is off them?

Have you looked at the dust shield behind the disc, could be rubbing.

When I did the brakes I did have a look and it didn't seem to be rubbing.

oooo, I've noticed this noise recently, never occurred to me it might be hand brake related.

Does anyone know where I can get the kit to replace the HB bits? And if so, how much? I have noticed a scrapping similar to this and might replace this too

I think thats a gimmie, there has to be some places better than others though. Some recommendations and prices would be handy. That way if we do go to a "shop that sells brakes" we can make sure we are not getting ripped off

I could phone my local handy toyota dealer who will be happy to qoute me a price. £4,000,000 +VAT for one side, thats with 25% discount! perhaps thats a little much, but you get the idea!

I have a good little Motex parts place 30 mins from me, who do things very cheap.. Don't think it helps you though.

I've used this place a few times when buying brakes for the van, I don't think you have to be too concerned about buying expensive makes when buying handbrake shoes.

I'm not sure if there're two types available (according to the EPC ?) for the Supra and because of sods law they're bound to send the wrong ones.

Halfords can get parts for import cars, they get them from local motor factors which I've found to be not particularly cheap if you get them directly. Halfords do them at a decent price and normally get them in a few hours, handy too incase they get the wrong ones.
