View Full Version : Front bumpers

Ok peeps, since I will shortly be receiving my shiny new FMIC, I'm trying to decide what front bumper to go for to get some air through it. I really like the Top Secret, but it's far too expensive, and the Miami Rice copy is no good to me as it doesn't have indicator holes which would mean I'd lose my sidelights (facelift car). So I've narrowed it down to the Whifbitz one, or DoLuck (either genuine or the Retaliator copy).

Has anyone got any comments about the fit/quality etc of these? Or any comments at all come to mention it ? :)

Some pics:-

I'll do this one as a link because the piccy is a bit big (great pic though)Do-Luck (http://www.do-luck-usa.com//images/gallery/JZA80_5_Gallery.jpg)

Dude

Not sure what you mean :conf:. You mean put a sidelight in the main lights? I kind of like the facelift lights as they are...

They should fit ok in the hole where the gearbox cooler is on mine , i liked the fact that it didnt have any obvious side/indicator lights !!

Got to admit, I like the Do Luck more the more I look at it :). I'm sure I'd scrape the hell out of it though! Anyone got any experience of the Retaliator Do Luck replica stuff?

Theres a few nice bumpers yet to be tried in UK yet Simon, are you looking for something to show off your FMIC or try something different?

Best Regards,

Gaz.

Simon,
I have a facelift and am buying Dude's front nose from him. You could always wait to see how we get around the issue and just see what you think it looks like???

Will see if the originals will fit neatly and if not then will go with the drill hole option I guess.

Cheers

Well, I want one with a nice big hole for the FMIC, not so much to show it off but there doesn't seem much point in having one having half of it out of the airstream. I figure the more air going through it and to the rad the better! Don't really want anything too fussy or outrageous - the Bomex F&TF one for example I find a bit fiddly. What did you have in mind?

Matt - I'd be interested to see how you get on with Dudes. Always good to have a guinee pig!:) When's it going on?

One I thought might be a nice one to try is the original Supra bomex bumper - big hole and nice looking and smooth uncluttered design.

Damn good price to and we could fit and paint it up north if need be.

You are not wrong :( I'm on standard Jspec suspension and the Do-Luck bumper is an absolute nightmare, so easy to scrape, and pretty much can't go in any multi-storey car parks  Scraped the feck out of it the other day too :( not noticable too much - but I know its there :(

Aha, you mean this one:-

I like that actually, and the sideskirts look nice too. Only trouble is there's nowhere for my facelift indicator/sidelights, like the MR Top Secret copy. Unless they just go in the side vents I suppose, like the original. What sort of price are we looking at :)

Isn't it the middle of the night in Japan atm?

That's what I've got in mine (f&f front bumper + original lighting kit) In total it cost me roughly 900 including shipping. That was from Suprastore.com

Dude,

Dunno mate, anything with a slight slope is a complete arse!

Maybe the bottom - which is quite level, sits further forward at the bottom than some others????? Dunno, but its mildly annoying as I have to plan ahead! Still, would rather do that than not have the Supe!

Maybe the multi storeys round your way are flatter ;) LOL! :D

I really liked that bumper too, something a bit different.
I've still got it here if anyone wants to have a go at patching it up, and the side skirts and spats. Free to good home, buyer collects, blah blah

Don't hold back Dude, say what you mean..:p. Anyway I don't like the F&F one at all, it looks like someone's got a drill and some fibreglass and started randomly drilling holes in it and sticking slats on. Way too fussy.

Decisions decisions...

I had the Bomex bumper in SimonB's post on my previous Supra. It looked great but the fit was poor and it was quite flimsy. It was on the car when I bought it so maybe if it's fitted properly in the first place it'd be ok. It was plastic too and not fibreglass so it won't be so prone to stone chips...

Multi-storey carparks? Don't go anywhere near them, smashed front bumper waiting to happen!!
