Standard CD changer problem

Have the standard Toyota 6 disc unit and I fear it's reached the end of the road:(
Originally was fine with playing any sort of CD including copies but now it rarely works at all and will never consent to play a copied CD.
Recognises there is a disc but comes up with error on first track and goes to the next disc and so on.

I tried a cleaning disc (brand new) but if anything this made things worse:eek:
Is it worth me taking the thing apart and putting it back together again?
Any suggestions as to what's up with it would be appreciated.

Take it to a car audio repair place and get them to repair it... Probably needs a new laser by the sounds of it. :(

Beraing in mind that an unused laser has a recommended shelf life of 10 years, a used one will probably need a bit more than cleaning!

Sorry, I couldn't tell you about any repair shops, I've got one upstairs from me, so I don't need to look any further! - I could recommend a good one in Maidstone though! :D
