View Full Version : Mobile phone upgrade, which?
Time for an upgrade on my phone. Previously had the Samsung X820, nice and slim for my pocket at work and I only use it as a phone, not a life organiser. Great and always works fine but poor battery life.
Im down to a couple of choices. The new Samsung U900 or maybe the touchscreen Samsung F480. Tempted by the SE C902 but my wife has it and I want something different :D I really just need it for calls/texts - which worries me with the touchscreen. Re: Nokias, I dont like the N series, too big and I dont need all that stuff.
Any feedback on these 2 phones?
ive always stuck with sony but when i saw the samsung f490 i had to have it then discovered the f480 was getting released soon so waited for that instead. i got it the day itcame out and was like a kid a xmas. had to get used to it at first with it being touch screen but soon got the hang of it. its packed full of decent features with the smile detector on the camera really impressing me. take a pic of someone frowning and nothing happens until they smile and the camear takes it automatically! how it works i dont know but it can be switched on or off.
the music player is really good and the battery is th longest lasting ive ever seen in any phone. it comes with a really neat case which is built into the backing shell on the phone. its hard to explain what its like but looks the part. the phone itself looks really impressive. the widget on it works really good too. the camera has got a million and one settings... oh and you can txt and phone people on it aswell!!
Thanks Mat, do you find the text quite easy to use in general. And sometimes you text when doing other things, ie using the feel of the buttons. Does this mean you always have to be definitely looking at the phone and concentrating more to text?
texting was really awkward at first but its got a lot easier. however you do have to look at it as your txting. i know wat you mean about the buttons as it got to a point with my old phone where i could type a whole text without even looking with this one though it cant be done (id be mega impressed if someone could do it). but i guess thats the price you gotta pay for a touchscreen phone.
speaking of price i got it on an orange contract £35 p/m 600mins and unlimited txts. i also got them to throw in a free blue toothe headset, free insurance, a memory stick, in car charger and an extra set of earphones.
Interesting. And that is good ammo when I call up next time to "complain." I will ask for some of that free stuff. When you do text while looking at it though, is it quicker?
I have the Samsung U600 and am very happy with it. Slim, battery lasts for ages and very easy to use. Would be free on the upgrade as well
Android handsets ("the gPhones") should be out within the next few-ish months (due Q3 - Q4 this year). Might be worth waiting for.
