Right, now I'm a bit confused here.. My main PC at home has stopped resolving DNS entries, but with a twist.

It was working fine yesterday, but from this morning firefox/IE and thunderbird will not reach out to Web Addresses.

Have had a play and still cannot get it to work, thank god for second PC's

Right I have a small wireless network with the following PC.

1) - Main PC - Hard Wired.
2) - Download PC - WiFI
3) - Son's Laptop - WiFi.

Machine 1 is the one having the issue, other two are fine.

So firefox will not resolve addresses, but will browse to ip addresses.
Going to the command line, ping will not resolve names

Using nslookup DOES resolve names into IP's

Neither the Interface nor firefox/IE has DNS Servers setup in their config.
The interface default gateway, DHCP & DNS servers all point at the router.

Now the following have been tried.

I can remote desktop to PC number 2, as I am doing now. I can also RDP back the other way.

1) - NOD AV service has been disabled.
2) - Router reset & power cycled several times.
3) - Swearing and threatening to chuck it out of the window.
4) - hosts file checked and just the normal localhost setting in it.

As far as I am aware no changes were made to the PC so does any body got any other things to try.

Nothing to do with the latest MS update? I beleive it conflicts with ZoneAlarm too.

There appears to be a small issue with the latest window patches - try rebooting your router and see if that helps. I've fixed 2 PCs in the last 2 days by just doing this.

Zonealarm by any chance?

If so, download the latest version from their site. Hitting update won't work so go to bottom of the page and the yellow box on the right will point you in the right direction.

Nope, I'm using NOD.

Windows FW turned off.

Router has been reset lots of times...

Anyone know which update it was?

MS08-037 KB951748 BBC Link (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/7499260.stm)

MS Link (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms08-037.mspx) and you can go to known issues from here too
