dover to estepona

going to be driving down there soon, now the route planned is calais to bordeaux, then to madrid then to estepona, does that sound right, would prefer keeping to a straight line but some people are saying its not the best way, any idea,s

You can go that way,but you can also go via Perpignan(F) and via Barcelona.Time wise it's much the same,but French motorways are more expensive than Spanish.If you go via Bordeaux, then the stretch from Zaragossa to Madrid is breath-takingly beautiful.Like a mini grand canyon.Bon route mon ami.
