Old Supras

We all know the Supra is one of those timeless things, even today the shape is gorgeous and still outshines a lot of modern cars for looks and performance.

But what about the future?

If I decide to buy another Supra in 10 years time will I be plagued with issues and never be happy with it? Will I be better off buying a newer car? What could be done to make the 'old' Supra reliable? Can new engines be made? Built engines?

Stateside several years ago they started doing restomods on 60's muscle, which is keeping the bodyshape & updating the driveline, suspension & interiors, ie the V8 that has been put into the Supra on supraforums, which i personally think is as good as it gets enginewise.

It may become a classic but not for another 10 years yet, just too many on the road

I was looking for an old fav of mine a few weeks ago and could not get my head around the price of the MKI Ford Escorts now, for a Mexico you are talking very serious money, even the RS2000's are 8-10K for a good one

Still want one though :)

Main thing that puts me off buying (and the a big part of the reason i sold my other one) is the weak diffs and lack of spare ones.

Saying that i will still be getting another when the right car comes along.

Anyone got any 6 speed diffs for sale? cash waiting:)

If breaking diffs is the only reason you could have a different diff and driveshafts made and fit that. Doubt you'd break an AMG 500SL diff, or a Holden Group A race diff, for example.

Thats the plan, next car will be coming to you for some work;)

Weak diffs?

Broken diffs on these cars are a rare thing and you're the only person I've ever heard of breaking more than one.

Isn't it more likely that the unsympathetic treatment you give them, and the fitting of your ones by TurboFit, that are more likely the problem? Plenty of folks in Japan and the US are running big power through stock or uprated diffs without problem.

Ive heard of a fair few of them breaking, cant see how they could be fitted wrong, i helped change it every time and its just a case of bolting them in, i even put a new donut and bush on them to be sure, imo its the big drifts and rolling burnouts that kill them.
