Stock air box and stock filter here. I was thinking about an alternative panel filter like a washable one, but never could decide if it would be as a reliable a filter as the stock paper one.

Anything which allows me to stick another HKS filter on my car and I am there. (got no stickers on my car before anyone starts on me!)

HKS "lets all the air and dirt through" Filter.

I'm using a custom designed stainless steel airbox with TRD panel filter. It's a one off though so not sure if that's useful to you.

Um... not it isn't matey. Do a search on here. A mushroom filter from HKS cost me 4 turbos

If the old filter was a roll of chicken wire you are probably right

I bought a HKS panel filter when I had my MR2, when I held it up to the light and could see through it I decided it might not be the best option

That's an interesting point. Can any of you with the replacement panel filters confirm if they are washable/reusable and robust?

If they were then, even ignoring any supposed performance gains, I guess they might be a worthwhile investment.

I have a HKS mushroom filter on my MR2! was on there when i bought it, so I wasn't really fussed about changing it. If I had a Supra though I'd go for something tried and tested, not just branded.

Spartan - I had a K&N panel filter in my Civic, and I can say it was an excellent piece of kit, looked and felt very strong and well made, just wash it and give it a spray with WD40 to keep it oily and you're away! Not sure about performance gains or that, but it sounded a little better?

If someone was looking at getting a replacement filter to go in his stock box which one would people suggest?..... guessing the HKS one's a no-no lol

I thought mushrooms were bad. didn't realise washable ones were that badly rated.
