Original amp is standard on GZ models, and is usually fitted if you have a standard sub in the boot (sits behind seats in the middle). No sub normally means no amp.
Best thing to do for the wiring is to get an adaptor from Halfrauds and then just place it between the two. Saves cutting into the standard wiring loom and messing things up. There's plenty of space behind the dash to hold it all in place.

Ben..
i was thinking of doing that......but not being electrically minded...does it all still work sub aswell if you are no longer using the amp?....has sub in boot so i guess it has an amp..cheers

I didn't have the sub, so I didn't have the amp, but from what I can remember the amp won't work with the new headunit, so you may as well remove it. I'm not sure if you have to rewire things with the removal of the amp, or whether or not the sub will even work with a new head unit.
The person you want to talk to is Matt Harwood, search in the members profiles for him and PM him, he will be able to answer anything on the stock stereo system, and alarms, and TTC, and.................
.............anything else electrical on the MKIV.
Ben..
P.S. Watch out though, he isn't always very nice! :p :D
 ok mate.......thanks for your help

Quick answer (have in-laws downstairs...) is the ISO adapter plugs into the back of the new system. On the left side of the tunnel are two sockets and a flying lead. Unplug the two leads that come from the right side and plug those into the ISO adapter.
Job done.
I did a hand drawing a while ago somewhere.
Basically this lot should be left disconnected.

If you have an amp and fit the ISO leads it will stop the amp working and the sub will no longer work either - not that its up to much. I put a new CDX-MP80 Sony in mine and did this and it was fine. I then changed the cack OEM speakers to Focals from Matt Harwood and it sounds fapping superb now, even with no sub in it yet!
cheers......i think i will go down this road myself.........ta
