Any tips?

The black block things on either side of the number plate - some like them, some don't. My choice was kind of made for me, as I got home one day to find one of them was hanging on by a sticky thread, so I kinda had to rip the other one off too.

Problem is (as anyone who has done this will surely know) is the sticky stuff that is left behind. How in the name of all things annoying do I get this stuff off my lovely car? I don't want to risk damaging the paint (if there's any left underneath it) so any tips on how to get the stuff off anyone?

Hair dryer heat up the gunk, peel it off. If you find it's still stubborn use a bit of nail varnish remover it’s not hard on the paint like thinners etc.

Nice idea matey, cheers. I'll have to try the nail varnish idea I think as I can't really extend the cable out to where my car is. Right, time to find a girl now.....

There is another approach but others may frown upon this.

Boiling hot water straight from the kettle, I've removed bump strips off cars using this method.

Never had a problem personally, however some people say it damages the lacquer.
