Has anybody visited this garage in Scotland before?

Hi peeps,

Just wanted to find a good tuner garage for my supe.I'm based in West Lothian, Scotland. Any recommendations?

That's near 'Jamesmark' I do believe, ask him where to take it, that supe was well looked after so it would be a good garage where he took his.

Depending on what it is you want done it might be worth driving down to Envy as there are not really any Supra specialists in Scotland.

hi johnny, scotland can't be that bad for not even having supra specialists, have you check out that website? so you travel from fife to envy? thats miles away! well, my car's been playing up recently,jerking whilst driving,felt car's losing power, suspect engine misfire, it played up 2 days ago when its raining but drove fine today, start up fine when cold but after driving for a while, the problem starts. took it to Krypton Tune garage to run diagnostics, found comm port's not working, doesn't release any info to their system, tried going through manual bypass, doesn't work either.

can anyone help?

The garage is a reasonable company for tuning up in scotland.

They are probably the most recognisable now anyways.

I know guys who have had great service from them and guys who havent.

If you are near glasgow maybe try performancetek although a honda specialist he is a good mechanic.

In summary - The garage should be able to help.

Cheers Gruggs! well, I'm not too far away from glasgow, do you even know what is wrong with my car from what I've described? My supe was found with 2 ECUs - 1 stock and 1 piggyback and it caused me endless problems, even breaking down in the middle of the road, so took it to Mr. T and he removed the piggyback and as a result my MANU mode isn't working on the autobox, drove it fine until now, do you think it could be a wiring problem? or a genuine misfire?

Nope I don't as I my car is pretty much stock except from the BPU upgrades but they are as straighforward a power upgrade as you get. If I was to put a big single on there I'd definitly take it down to Envy, it's not that far just over the border. I've driven further for hot meals

If you're just talking about servicing, suspension brake work etc then a good mechanic that you trust will be able to do it all.

hey gruggs, visited performancetek's website, looks great but it would be helpful if they have a contact number. can't find their tel. anywhere, not on yell or google. do you have it?

the Garage has a good reputation for Supra work but personally i think he charges too much for routine things etc.

Marc at the garage is a decent guy. He can be a little expensive but i don't have any complaints about his work.

All work on my car's gets done either by myself or by them. I took my car to CRD once, it was a bit of a journey but their prices were reasonable. The service was OK but even though they were meant to have loads of experience on MR2's etc they seemed to struggle fitting my clutch.

If your comm's port isnt working your wiring has probably been fudged somewhere along the line, the symptoms above could be a number of things

Envy really are your best bet, remember just because Mark at the G will say he'll have a look at it - doesnt mean he's gonna in the near future he takes on more work than he can handle;)

hey scotster, did you mean you took your car to CRD and they have problems fitting your clutch? well, I knew CRD quite well,told them about the problem I have suspect misfire, she told me that their former mechanic James has left to start up his own business, so Gary will their mechanic for now, asked them how they would go about solving my problem, run through a diagnostic check? no, they said its a matter of taking the car for a spin and guessing where the fault lies..I was quite shocked by that, not sure if I want to be charged for 'guessing' work.. since they charge as soon as you book your car in.... what do u think?

hey bolarbag, thanks for the input, haven't spoken with Marc at the garage, not sure what piggyback ecu I have, didn't get to find out before Mr. T got rid of it. so I take it Envy is the best way to go huh?

Yeah CRD seemed to be doing a lot of trial and error on fitting my clutch even though they are meant to have experience. Seemed strange to me but they got the job done.

Mark takes £30 per hour plus vat IIRC. They have just moved to much bigger premises in Motherwell. They are also doing a lot more stuff now such as MOT's, alignment etc.

No where near me am afraid. Still staying in South Yorkshire.

Suprarider as per your email, I think your questions have been answered already re that site. I have never heard of them as not needed a garage when I have been back home.

Performancetek is a company who specialise in Honda's. He is known in honda-land as gerry turbo and the majority of modified hondas in Scotland are done by him. He's very well known in the honda circuits.

 

I have his number somewhere and can pm if people are interested.

 

I think there is even a pic of my engine bay in one of the shots, can't remember. I was borrowing his ramps for a few days.

Personal joke that I share with friends but no - No thanks, I do all my own work anyway but I know its a long trip down south when I get stuck

If it was me mate I'd just take it to envy , at least you know then its in capable hands !

i am from west lothian too, you might have seen my supe going about,

i do most of my work myself but if your looking for a good garage go to hypertec at bonnyridge, much better than the garage an reasonable too, i hear nothing but good about them.

the garage mainly specialises in skylines at the mo.

oh an by the way forget about crd without jamesie they are a waste of time, i think jamesie is startin work for CARS bodyshop.

if you pop into CARS at east calder an ask for scot he will point you in the right direction.

The garage is worth a shot for your Supra needs if you don't want to travel too far.

I wouldn't bother with Performancetek.......Gerry's in fact really good and I don't want you Supra owners monopolising his time any more than folk do already

Thanks for all the recommendations guys but we are stowed off with work until middle of July at the moment.

One person I forgot to mention was tDR's dad - does he still do work on Supras?

some time ago i posted for advice about a green tt i was interested in, which was at the calder motor company in livingston.While speaking to the chap there he said they carried out all work on supras repair and tuning maybe someone has experienced work done there.Cars for sale were almost all jap.
