I am so sceptical of this stuff, and I don't know much, but the idea that you can add 30bhp and 50lb/ft just with this "tuning box" which does nothing more than mess with fuelling, seems odd to me. It doesn't touch boost at all.

The guy will be falling out with me if I knock it any more, but I think he's suffering major placebo. Am I way off.. does it work?

Anybody have any input?

(my questions start on page 3 I think).

apparantly the dyno results showed an improvement (i did not look at them) but 25 plus bhp for £200 ? Would like to see the "box" internals

Those two dyno figures are from the same car at the same time. I'm not even sure they're from his car. The first one showing 154hp is an estimated flywheel HP, the second, showing 127hp is a wheel hp reading, which apparently is almost identical to what someone else's stock car got.

By reading some of the posts they seem to run like cr@p after then slowly improve  What back to normal making you think its got faster. LOL

Having read the thread it does sound very much like to lets more fuel in..and then the ECU learns to deal with this overfuelling and then probably leans it off a bit anyway :)

I have just explained his screwy dyno readings to him. I hope it doesn't upset him. I've just noticed that other people have hinted at it earlier in the thread. Maybe I am being too brutal and it's a softly softly forum. They seem like a nice lot though. No txt spk allowed (YAY!) :D

I think there is a problem. Those guys would rather leave somebody believing it's working when it's obviously not, rather than explain the truth. That's bad isn't it?
Ignorant bliss etc.

As fickel says:

But if it's made his car nicer to drive and he likes it....so be it
So I'm not really sure where youre going with this?
He likes the improvement its made and for that cost its quite good.
Whether the figures are accurate or not is the point at all here either
There are better remaps AND tuning boxes available, there are also far worse.
